Kate Malone MBE is one of the UK's leading ceramic artists, with an illustrious career spanning over thirty years.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, she has endeavored to make her artwork accessible to enthusiasts of all levels.  Her work ranges in scale from small, jewel-like pieces to large scale projects such an entire building.  Malone has developed an unmistakable and highly regarded style.  "Inspired by the optimism and joy in nature," her highly-colored, natural forms brim with a sense of growth and abundance and aim to communicate the 'Life Force' to the viewer.

In addition to an exploration of nature, Kate has spent her career pioneering glazing techniques via research and experimentation in the chemistry of glazing and has the largest crystal glaze archive in the UK.  The sophistication of these glazes has led to some interesting collaborations with prominent architects and designers working on inspiring public art projects in hospitals, schools, parks and libraries.

Malone's work is held in over forty museum collections worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum London, The Ashmolean Museum Oxford, LACMA in Los Angeles, and the Cité de la Céramique Sèvres.  She has had more than twenty solo exhibitions as an artist.

In addition to her studio practice, Malone was a judge on seasons 1 & 2 of the popular BBC series The Great Pottery Throw Down.  Recently she became the ceramic ambassador for the charity OnSide Youth Zones as part of her mission to get clay into the hands of everyone, especially children.  She is also a patron of the Clay College Stoke-on-Trent, an ambassador for The Geffrye Museum, London, and often speaks publicly of her belief in the benefits of maintaining craft making in schools as part of a basic education for every child.

In 2019 Malone was awarded an MBE for her services to ceramic art.
